ICT-NZ shuts up shop

ICT-NZ, the proposed new ICT industry representative body, has closed its doors.

"In anticipation of the new ICT representative body being proposed by government by the end of March, ICT-New Zealand Incorporated is closing its operation following an Extraordinary General Meeting this week," a statement released today says.

ICT-NZ co-chairmen Ross Peat and Chip Dawson say their biggest regret is "closing before having had the opportunity to market ICT-New Zealand to the industry".

"We had not formally launched ICT-NZ, nor approached the industry as a whole to sign up as members. It was a challenging decision to close but, in supporting the establishment of the proposed new body, we did not want to compete with it for funding or membership," they say in the statement.

"We believe the two years spent by ICT-NZ in developing the business proposition for an industry body, and the related web and membership systems, has been very valuable and we trust that the new ICT Industry organization will benefit from these initiatives."
