Cond Nast UK has selected a secure file transfer system to protect editorial copy when it is transferred around the world.
Cond Nast, which publishes Vogue, Glamour, GQ and Tatler, among others, has selected the Accellion Secure File Transfer system to securely transfer editorial copy between the agencies it serves globally.
IT director Lauraine Turner said there was a need to ensure that the company could keep a firm hold of its content, which is its main intellectual property.
We received instructions from head office that we had to make sure that content was being transmitted securely. We have chosen Accellion to deliver the greater levels of security we feel are imperative in todays fast moving digital world, said Turner.
With the majority of editorial content being produced by outside contributors, the solution had to be easy to use, simple to implement and highly secure.
Previously, Cond Nast relied on an FTP (file transfer protocol) server and email as a way to share copy. But the sheer size of files being sent stalled networks and impacted storage. "Contributors were sending InDesign pages with high-resolution glossy photos these were large files that would clog up the email system. In many instances photographers were sending large selections of photos, said Turner.
Accellion is simple to use and installs easily on both PCs and Macs. With Accellion we are confident that pre-published information is secure, Turner said.
