Chemical giant BASF has extended its contract with BT with the Telco providing connections to some 900 BASF sites in more than 80 countries.
The updated contract also covers the provision of IP telephony and Managed LAN Services at 300 sites in North and South America as well as in Asia. The order runs over seven years for a total value of around 200 million Euros.
BT has been working with BASF since 2003 and will now extend its support to the sites of the chemical company Ciba that BASF acquired in 2008.
"As a global company, we were looking for a partner who is able to provide consistent standards and reliable service delivery on a global scale. During the course of our cooperation, which dates back to 2003, BT kept convincing us with innovative solutions and the high level of commitment of their employees," explained Fareed Mohammed, CTO at BASF.
The contract will be a boost for BT Global Services as it faces the fallout of the government's effective cancellation of the National Programme for IT in the NHS (NPfIT), where BT had contracts valued at around £1 billion.
