Bank of America's home page has chalked up four days in a row of intermittent access problems for which it has diagnosed the cause but won't reveal it.
The symptoms are that the bank's home page comes up with only this warning: "We're sorry, but some of our pages are temporarily unavailable. Thanks for your patience." It then suggests three other bank-related sites to try instead.

The bank's official news account on Twitter said Monday afternoon, "Bofa.com is experiencing slowness. Most customers are able to bank & we're taking steps to manage online traffic. Thanks for your patience."
A spokesperson for the bank says the outage is unrelated to a controversial new $5 per month fee on debit card use that was imposed last week before the outages started, according to published reports.
This is not the first time the bank's sites have been disrupted. On Jan. 14 and March 1 of this year the bank suffered a problem similar to the current one.
