Kelly Racing streamlines car design process, gives V8 team competitive advantage

Workflow enhanced through digital prototyping

V8 Supercar team Kelly Racing has streamlined its design process through the use of digital prototyping and multiphysics software.

The team uses Autodesk’s simulation, multiphysics and inventor software packages to design and validate new car components, with team racer and co-owner, Rick Kelly, saying the software gives the team a competitive advantage.

“It is critical for us to be fast and efficient in every facet of our business,” Kelly said.

“Autodesk provides the technology and expertise to streamline our entire design process, so we can beat our competition on the track and in the marketplace.”

The use of simulation software has allowed the team to create car components that are race ready in record time; a fact that is crucial to the team that races for most of the year.

Recently incorporating Autodesk’s product design suite into its operations, the team said its workflow has been enhanced thanks to the rollout.

Improvements to assembly suspension means the team are able to increase the traction and grip of team cars by 8 per cent; a change that could play a vital role in leading the team to success.
