London Stock Exchange inks Google real time share data deal

Exchange offers free share price information

The London Stock Exchange has signed a deal to allow Google to distribute real time "last trade price" share data, for stocks traded on the LSE and Borsa Italiana.

The agreement marks a big change in functionality - Google previously issued the data on a 15 minute delay, making it less useful for interested traders. The data is free.

The LSE said the move highlights its "commitment to making core real-time data services as accessible as possible for retail investors".

Jarod Hillman, Head of Real-Time Data at the LSE, said: "This partnership between LSEG and Google is great news for retail investors across the globe. For the first time Google users will have access to free, real-time last-trade prices, allowing them to make more informed investment decisions.

He added: "LSEG is committed to making the Group's markets as accessible as possible to the retail investor. Previously, this data has only been available with a 15-minute delay so we are delighted that Google has chosen to licence our real-time offering".
