iiNet will sell 4G services to its customers through Optus’ 4G network.
The ISP has signed a mobile virtual network operator agreement with Optus Wholesale to sell its 4G wireless services to iiNet and its subsidiaries – Westnet, Netspace and Internode.
“It makes sense for us to introduce one of the fastest wireless broadband services available and it supports our growth strategy to offer more to each of our customers,” Michael Malone, chief executive officer at iiNet, said in a statement.
iiNet will also launch its own brand of devices to be used with the 4G network, such as a USB modem and mobile Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 10 devices to connect to.
iiNet stated it would release more information on plans and service availability in the coming months.
Optus last week announced its 4G network had been switched on in Melbourne, following the launch of the network in Sydney and Perth in July this year and in Newcastle in April.
Optus is reportedly spending $2 billion over the next two years on developing its 4G network.
Four companies have now announced 4G services for its customers – Optus, Telstra, Vodafone, which will be launched in early 2013, and now iiNet.
