Hunt leaves Kordia after eight years as chief executive

Group CEO role disestablished, Scott Bartlett and Peter Robson head NZ and Australia businesses respectively.

Geoff Hunt is leaving Kordia, and the state owned enterprise has disestablished the Group CEO role.

Scott Bartlett now leads the new Kordia New Zealand and Peter Robson continues to lead Kordia Solutions Australia. Both will now report to the board, along with the Group CFO, Shaun Rendell.

Hunt, who led the company for eight years, will leave Kordia Group at the end of March, and has no immediate plans for his next role, according to Kordia spokesperson Emma Morrison.

Hunt was recruited in 2005 to lead THL Group, which was renamed Kordia Group in 2006. He led Kordia’s ‘broadcast to broadband’ transformation strategy, which included the purchase of ISP Orcon for $24.3 million in June 2007. Last year Orcon was merged into Kordia Networks to create a new business, Kordia New Zealand, which has total annual revenue of just under $200 million.

With the Australian business also turning over $200 million, Hunt says his job is done. “Now that both businesses are performing well, it makes sense that they each now report directly to the Kordia Board,” he says.

Kordia Group chairman David Clarke says that during Hunt’s tenure, group revenue went up from $120 million to $400 million, of which 60 percent is derived from services and customers new to Kordia over the last five years. In 2012, Kordia Group posted a record net profit after tax of $12.1million.
