Peter Wise joins IDC as senior research manager telecommunications

Joins research firm from Telecom where he was head of strategy for Telecom wholesale.

Peter Wise has joined IDC from Telecom New Zealand where he was head of strategy for Telecom wholesale. Before that, he was at TelstraClear where his most recent roles were group manager, business marketing and group manager, consumer product marketing. The new appointment comes after IDC’s telecommunications analysts Rosalie Nelson and Rosemary Spragg moved to Chorus.

Wise will be responsible for driving IDC's telecommunication research agenda into the new era of UFB fibre rollout, next generation data and mobile services and continued industry transformation.

“Peter brings a wealth of industry experience with both a local and international perspective. His vast experience and deep industry knowledge will enable IDC to provide relevant strategic and tactical insights to our clients, at a time when telcos are forced to redefine and reinvent their business models", says Ullrich Loeffler, country manager IDC New Zealand.

Wise will manage the New Zealand telecommunications research team, where he is supported by Glen Saunders as senior market analyst and Shane Minogue as market analyst. Wise will also work with IDC's Australia research team to drive tighter cross-Tasman research collaboration and integration.

“There's obviously so much going on in the industry at the moment, whether it be the continued growth of smartphone devices or figuring out what UFB and NBN means for different players in NZ and Australia. I'm really excited to be joining such a strong, locally based research organisation and being part of it all,” says Wise.
