Auckland-based Phitek's noise cancelling headphones may cost more up-front than some competing products, but the company continues to score wins from price-sensitive international airlines, today announcing it has signed up Virgin Blue boutique brand V Australia.
Phitek's general manager of connectivity business, Roy Moody, says the company's headphones have been in use on Singapore Airlines for three years now. Some other brands are lucky to last a year, he says. Phitek offers a service bundle around the headphone sale, he says, that can deliver operational savings over the longer term and extend the life of the units. A fixed-rate repair service manages the replacement of ear-pads and the fix or replacement of damaged units. Moody says the price of the service is based on a known attrition rate on the technology Scott Swift, executive general manager of V Australia, says equipping V Australia’s aircraft with Phitek’s V3D module and Stratus headphones provides our guests with the best in sound quality. International Business Class guests will benefit from Phitek’s Stratus headphones, which incorporate active noise cancellation, based on Phitek’s patented technology. Phitek’s V3D Module provides an authentic reproduction of the sound stage, offering guests the ability to customise their audio experiences. Moody says, in addition, the module uses signal processing to emphasise voice, offering improved intelligibility for the hearing impaired. Phitek says its technology is now used by more than 50 airlines worldwide.
