iPad 2 arrives in New Zealand on Friday

Apple has confirmed that the iPad 2 will go on sale in New Zealand this Friday March 25.

The international release date had been questioned following reported shortages in the US. But in a media release today, the company says the iPad2 – which it describes as “the second-generation of its third post-PC device” – will go on sale in 25 countries outside the US later this week.

“We're experiencing amazing demand for iPad 2 in the US, and customers around the world have told us they can't wait to get their hands on it. We appreciate everyone’s patience and we are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone," Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs.

In New Zealand pricing starts at $799 for the iPad 2 with Wi-Fi, while the top of the range 64GB model with Wi-Fi and 3G will sell for $1,289.

iPad2 will be available at Apple reseller stores at 5pm on Friday, and online through the Apple Store from 3am.
