Magnum Mac founder named among earthquake victims

Multiple media reports confirm that Magnum Mac founder and Renaissance board member Murray Wood was trapped inside the CTV building when the Christchurch earthquake hit. But there have yet to be any official confirmation that Wood perished in the quake.

Police say there have been no survivors rescued overnight as the death toll from Tuesday's 6.3-magnitude quake rose from 98 to 103, and 228 people are now listed as missing.

Civil Defence Minister John Carter said 10 specialist urban search rescue teams from around the world were now on the ground and operating. A final team from the United States is expected later today.

Wood was the managing director of Canterbury Television, had reportedly been talking about moving office locations just hours before the earthquake struck.

According to Warwick Grey, Renaissance’s chief marketing officer, all of the company’s staff in Christchurch are said to be safe and accounted for.
