Strong response to govt vendor panel

There have been 18 vendor responses to a request for information that will allow the Department of Internal Affairs to assess whether there is a business case for government to aggregate demand for ICT infrastructure services.

The RFI was issued on June 10, and yesterday DIA published an advance notice to update the market and to provide likely requirements.

DIA says it is finalising the initial participating agencies for the procurement of services. The list is expected to include: DIA, Inland Revenue, Land Information, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Social Development, the Defence Force, Police, and the New Zealand Transport Agency.

Among the objectives for the Government Infrastructure as a Service Project are to lower costs, manage demand efficiently, improve quality of services and incentivise agency uptake.

DIA intends to issue an RFP but says the date of release has not yet been finalised. When it is issued, vendors will be given a minimum of six weeks to respond.
