Layoffs to be made at Gen-i as Telecom restructures

Dozens of jobs are going at Gen-i in a first step as Telecom restructures under what it terms two new value propositions and an urgent need to transform its business.

Following inquiries from Computerworld in the wake of layoffs last week, Gen-i says in an email that the new structure will mean a degree of reorganisation for some people in the business.

“Some new roles have been created, some roles have been disestablished, and some reporting lines have changed.”

When asked to clarify the number of layoffs, a spokesperson says the number is not yet known but it will be in the dozens, “though less than 100”.

The written response says final confirmation on roles and appointments is happening through an on-going process of communication and consultation during June.

“In the future, Gen-i will deliver two client value propositions with fundamentally different operating models. We are investing in the tools, processes, technologies and capabilities of our people to deliver our future client value propositions and business model." Read more at Computerworld.
