Civica buys electionz.com business

Global public sector software company Civica has acquired the local government business of Christchurch-based electionz.com.

Civica says acquiring the company provides "strategic expansion into the South Island" and increases the company’s market position in New Zealand.

The buyout includes the electionz.com local government customer base, intellectual property rights to the electionz.com local government software applications and all associated assets.

The electionz.com local government staff have joined Civica.

In May last year, Civica acquired Fujitsu’s local authorities business in New Zealand and Australia. At the time, the company also opened an office in Auckland to support its NZ operations.

“The latest acquisition reinforces our strong commitment to building a presence in the New Zealand market,” says Civica’s CEO, Civica International Peter Anderson. “In addition to expanding market share, gaining an office in the South Island is of strategic importance in our quest to strengthen our presence in New Zealand.”

The company is claiming Matamata-Piako, Hauraki and Timaru Councils as new customers for its Authority local government software.

Civica claims 1800 customers worldwide and employs 1350 staff.

Electionz.com produces modular packaged software for local government called ACS Local Government. It also provides election related services to government and private clients.
