Canterbury Software Summit rescheduled

New date set after earthquake cancels original event

The Canterbury Software Summit, which was due to take place on September 7, has been rescheduled for Tuesday October 26.

The Summit was postponed in the wake of the Canterbury Earthquake on September 4. Canterbury Software Cluster chair David Johnstone told Computerworld at the time that while Christchurch’s Hotel Grand Chancellor, the conference venue, wasn’t damaged seriously by the quake, “there’s no access to the CBD at the moment and many delegates are otherwise engaged – going to a conference won’t be their choice at the moment”.

Canterbury Software communications manager Shelley Grell says the line-up for the Summit is unchanged, with all speakers who were scheduled for the original event able to make it to the new one.

The Summit programme comprises a business stream and a technical stream, with the former focusing on how business applications are benefitting organisations, and the latter looking at development issues.

So far, more than 200 delegates have registered for the Summit, Grell says.
