If you're anything like me you spend the first part of your morning organising your calendar and slotting in your appointments for the day.
This little ritual of mine has been made much easier recently thanks to Cue, an iPhone app that is free from the Apple App Store.
Cue is a calendar and reminder app that syncs with your calendar, mail, and social media accounts — and presents you with where you need to be in a very attractive way.
The app takes meeting information from your different accounts and the native iOS calendar, and presents each meeting in order in a vertical cue which you proceed through during the day.
Each meeting or event has its own box, which shows you information on your fellow attendees, where you're meeting, and any email messages that were in the same thread as the invite.
Using contact details from your iOS contacts or on different connected social networks, you can message or call the attendee, or even FaceTime them if you're that way inclined.
A handy little feature is the Running Late button which lets you inform all the attendees by how many minutes you expect to be late.
To use all the features in the App you need to register with Cue, and connect it with your social networks.
Cue makes its money from power users who connect the app to their project management tools or content publishing systems. For US$4.99 a month Cue will sync with Basecamp, Yammer, Salesforce, Evernote, and Tumblr. For the vast majority users the free service, which includes Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Dropbox, is enough. The app's inbuilt search service lets you search contacts, events, and files on all the connected networks.
