APN Online opts for Maxnet

Maxnet to host mirror of nzherald.co.nz

The publisher of nzherald.co.nz, APN Online, has selected hosting provider Maxnet to provide mission-critical datacentre services.

Tim Lockie, APN’s general manager of IT, says it is critical that APN hosts a mirror of its website at a second datacentre to mitigate risk and guarantee high availability.

Lockie says he was impressed by Maxnet’s capabilities, which include 99.99 percent uptime in its Auckland datacentre and a cost-effective pricing model for its virtualised load balancing service, which eliminates the risk of server overload by distributing demand across a of pool of servers. They also came highly recommended by finda.co.nz, says Lockie.

Maxnet’s datacentre has been designed to meet the needs of mission critical environments with an emphasis on maintaining security and maximum cooling, power and network availability, Maxnet’s CEO, John Hanna, says.

“This technology includes advanced application delivery platforms and end-to-end virtualisation services for servers, firewalls, storage, load balancing and networks.”

He says Maxnet has worked hard to come up with a cost-effective solution for APN Online that delivers high integrity infrastructure at an affordable price.
