Fairfax Media is to introduce a new IT structure that will possibly result in the number of IT staff at the company – which publishes Computerworld — being reduced from approximately 68 to 45.
The exercise would involve centralising IT in four locations (Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Hamilton) and establishing a centralised service desk at Fairfax’s Sundays site in Auckland.
Fairfax Media NZ group operations manager Nigel Bailey declined to comment, saying he would be visiting individual sites over the next week to consult with IT staff about the proposal.
