Optimation links with India's HCL

Expands access to SAP and Oracle skills

IT services company Optimation has formed a partnership with India's HCL Technologies.

CEO Rhoda Holmes says the partnership will both broaden and deepen Optimation’s offerings, particularly in the areas of SAP and Oracle skills.

An earlier partnership with financially troubled Indian company Satyam at the Department of Corrections is at the end of its life, she says.

HCL’s main contract in New Zealand is with Fontera. It’s understood that’s worth around $20 million a year. HCL Asia Pacific head Virender Aggarwai confirms the company does about $30 million annually in New Zealand. Other major accounts are at NZ Post, Vodafone and Westpac.

“We were lacking feet on the ground in New Zealand,” he says. “We’ll make use of Optimation’s project management and testing capabilities.”

HCL announced last week that quarterly profits were up 110% after a slump in the previous quarter. Net income for the quarter ended June 30 was $US68.9 million, compared with $32.8 million in the same period a year ago. Revenue was $607 million, compared with $501.7 million.

Aggarwai says HCL is the best performing financially of the major Indian IT companies.
