A major server crash at the Ministry of Health on Tuesday had nothing to do with the Confickr worm that had earlier plagued the ministry, a spokesman says.
Many users were unable to connect to services such as Lotus Notes and to the internet for two and a half hours.
At least one branch in Wellington, on The Terrace, lost all connectivity.
The spokesman says the crash was caused by a disk array failure. A new switch was installed.
Earlier this year, the ministry was hit by the Conficker virus and many users were denied internet access over a number of weeks while the infection was cleaned up.
“It proved our actions against the Confickr worm work,” he says.
