Trustpower opts for Oracle

Service oriented architecture the goal

Electricity retailer and generator TrustPower has signed Oracle to undertake a major IT infrastructure upgrade covering customer care, billing, and other services including financials.

Work has commenced and a staged implementation is scheduled for completion in mid 2010.

TrustPower's community relations manager, Graeme Purches, said in a statement released yesterday that TrustPower does not take investments of this magnitude lightly, but the company wants to move to a service oriented IT architecture model.

He said Trustpower will be completing the project "at cost which is actually less than what one of our competitors has allowed for as a contingency for a similar upgrade using alternative software".
