Oracle’s NZ revenue jumps 16%

Acquisitions and new deals drive growth

Oracle' s New Zealand revenue surged 16% in 2008, up from $78.1 million in its 2007 financial year to $90.9 million a year later.

Profit before income tax, for the year ended May 2008 was $30.7 million, up 30% from $23.6 million in 2007. After tax the profit was $20.2 million.

Oracle refuses to comment on its results by country, even though these are freely available at the New Zealand Companies Office website.

According to a release on its Asia-Pacific performance, the company has claimed some new customers in New Zealand, including a deal with Trustpower.

However, it is just as likely to be driven by the large number of acquisitions the company has made recently. Oracle has acquired nearly 20 other IT firms over the last two years.
