Indications that Telecom might buy Perth internet service provider Amcom gained momentum last week after a big stake-holder in the ISP announced it would sell its shares.
Early this year, suggestions that Amcom and Telecom's loss-making Australian business AAPT were talking acquisition prompted Amcom to make a statement to the Australian Stock Exchange saying it had not talked to AAPT about a transaction involving the two parties, but had discussed other matters.
Last week, Australian agribusiness Futuris said it would press ahead with plans to unload non-core assets, including its 50 per cent stake in Amcom, which owns and operates fibre-optic networks in Perth, Darwin and Adelaide.
