Tourism NZ opts for Axon

Deal replaces Gen-i with Axon

Tourism New Zealand has replaced Gen-i with Axon, signing a three-year IT services global outsourcing contract.

The 24 x 7 support deal includes desktop server and environment monitoring, maintenance and administration, technical architecture services, and the management of third-party providers. On-site services will be delivered by Axon nationally, and by Axon’s partner network offshore.

Tourism NZ has also appointed Axon as its preferred partner for projects, procurement and software licensing.

Tourism NZ’s general manager corporate services, Keith Thomas, says technology is critical to his organisation succeeding in its mission to “motivate travellers to come now, do more and send others”.

“Our network is our lifeline back to New Zealand”, he says. “Our people are constantly on the move, participating in major tourism-related events, giving presentations to the industry and co-ordinating with our partners, such as Air New Zealand. Consequently, we are utterly dependent on our IT systems to enable us to communicate effectively and deliver our message.”

Axon will support 130 Tourism New Zealand staff working from offices in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Sydney, Osaka, Tokyo, Shanghai, Singapore, Mumbai, Bangkok, Los Angeles, London, and New York.

The value of the deal wasn’t disclosed.
