Health ministry halts systems development tender

New RFP to be issued in July

The ministry of health has cancelled a tender for a supplier panel for professional services relating to its national systems development programme.

In a notice posted on the GETS government tenders website, the ministry notes that “initial supplier selections were made in January 2008, subject to negotiation and execution of contracts.

“However, prior to the execution of the contracts, it became apparent that a number of factors will materially impact the services, scope and strategy of the tender issued.”

A restructure of the ministry’s information directorate and a desire to reduce the number of tenders in a planned series (of which the professional services tender was to be the first) from 12 to a lesser number are among the reasons for the change of heart, the ministry says.

Accordingly, the RFP (request for proposal), issued late last year, has been cancelled. A new RFP will be issued in July.

A separate tender, for an IT architecture and design supplier panel, which is underway, is not affected by the decision and will continue.
