Auckland CBD and Takapuna are the latest exchanges to receive Orcon DSLAM equipment as local loop unbundling progresses.
Orcon’s announced today its unbundled internet and phone services service are available to subscribers in the two new exchange areas, doubling Orcon's reach.
The next exchanges to be unbundled are Blockhouse Bay, Manurewa, Howick, Mt Eden and Remuera, the company says.
Orcon's Orcon@home+unbundled telephone and ADSL2+ broadband network was initially launched to customers via five Auckland exchanges in March.
Orcon plans to add a further 10 exchanges in Auckland by mid-2008, with major cities coming online in stages through 2008 and 2009.
