Vector's CFO quits and moves to TelstraClear

Xero appoints its first CFO

Chief Financial Officer appointments in the local ICT scene were all the buzz on the NZX yesterday.

At 4.20pm Vector announced CFO Alex Ball had resigned after three years at the company. Shane Sampson, currently Vector Group’s manager of finance operation, has been appointed acting CFO.

An hour later, TelstraClear released a media statement announcing Ball will be joining the company as its new CFO.

“I’m delighted to welcome Alex to TelstraClear and to the ever-changing world of telecommunications. His impressive background in engineering, power generation and networks, as well as his extensive accounting and company directorship experience, will help keep TelstraClear at the forefront of the telco sector,” says TelstraClear CEO Allan Freeth.

Ball starts at the company in October and replaces Vanessa Hannan, who has returned to Telstra in Australia.

Earlier in the day its parent company in Australia Telstra had announced a management reshuffle.

Meanwhile Xero says it has appointed its first CFO, Ross Jenkins, whose curriculum vitae includes executive positions at Computerland NZ, Onesource (Konica Minolta and Cogent) and Datastor NZ.

In addition Xero has created two new general manager positions. Duncan Ritchie, previously with Gen-i, has been appointed general manager of operations. And Natasha Hubbard, previously with Alcatel-Lucent, will become general manager of human resources.
