Lexel project manager awarded top honour

Project Management Awards announced

Rob Franklin of Lexel Project Services was awarded Project Manager of the Year by the New Zealand chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMINZ) at its third annual awards in Auckland last night.

Judges commended Franklin for his “depth of professionalism, high level of technical skills and seamless execution of his duties as project manager on a complex project”.

Franklin’s win is also acknowledgement for the professional services division of Lexel (formely known as Computer Brokers). CEO Noel Simpson recently told Computerworld that professional services is the fastest growing division in the company.

The PMINZ Awards were presented at a gala dinner as part of the 17th Annual National Project Management Conference being held this week. The other award winners are:

Project of the Year – Project Century, completed by Beca and led by project manager Sue Bradley.

Research Achievement Award – Kamrul Ashan of Auckland University of Technology.

Emerging Project Manager of the Year – Alice Greer of New Zealand Customs Service.

Public Sector Project of the Year – Aotea Square Redevelopment by Auckland Council.

Outstanding Volunteer of the Year – Jerry Ball.
