Transfield wins $200M UFB services contract

UltraFast Fibre win follows Enable Networks deal earlier this month

UltraFast Fibre Ltd, the entity that will provide the UFB project to the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Taranaki, has awarded a $202 million contract for network design, rollout and maintenance services to Australia’s Transfield Services.

Transfield's win follows a $260 million contract it was awarded on June 1, to provide similar services to Enable Networks in the Christchurch UFB rollout.

The UltraFast Fibre contract commences next month.

The major shareholder in UltraFast Fibre is lines company WEL networks, a lines company owned by a community trust.

Transfield signed a 10-year contract with Chorus in 2009, for engineering services.
