Venture fund gains new chairman

Prominent Wellington company director Sir John Anderson appointed

Sir John Anderson is the new Chair of the New Zealand Venture Investment Fund (NZVIF).

Anderson’s appointment, announced today by economic development minister Pete Hodgson, began on 1 January 2008 and will run until 30 June 2010.

Anderson is a Wellington-based company director. He is the chair of TVNZ and New Zealand Cricket, a director of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and has been chair of the New Zealand Sports Foundation.

Before those roles, he served as CEO for the ANZ and National Banks.

Deputy Chair Peter Taylor has been acting chair and will continue on the board as deputy chair.

The New Zealand Venture Investment Fund (NZVIF) is a Crown owned company that manages a $160 million venture capital fund of funds and a $40 million direct Seed Co-investment Fund.
