Xero loses sales exec, gains others

UK and local appointments made

Online accounting start-up Xero has lost another senior executive.

Earlier this year, former chief financial officer Paul Gardner left, and now Anthony Bishop, who was recruited in April from global business intelligence software vendor SAS to become Xero’s worldwide head of sales, has left to pursue other opportunities.

He has been replaced by Vivian Morresey, who was previously with CRM (customer relationship management) software vendor RightNow.

The role has also changed, with Morresey being appointed national sales manager, as opposed to Bishop’s global focus.

Xero has also made an appointment in the UK, selecting Mark Hallett as UK business development director.

Hallett has a background with accounting software vendor Sage in the UK.

Going global is a major ambition for Xero, which at the time of its most recent financial filing, for the year to September 30, reported licence sales of $24,000.

Xero, which is based in Wellington, has also increased its focus on New Zealand, having appointed two new account managers in Auckland and one in Christchurch.

Meanwhile, the chief financial officer role vacated by Paul Gardner is yet to be filled, with Xero stating in a media release that “the search has commenced for a new finance executive”.

Xero recently announced that TSB Bank has signed up as the sixth bank that it supports.

By “supports”, it means that means Xero customers who bank with TSB Bank can get daily imports of bank transactions.
