EMC has released Retrospect 6.1.138, an update to its backup software for the Mac (originally made by Dantz, which EMC acquired). The update provides a fix for Leopard users.
Retrospect offers Mac users automated backup for servers, desktop and notebook systems. It supports backup to disk, tape and CD or DVD media. Retrospect can either run on a single machine, or can back up systems over a network. It also supports tape autoloaders and library systems in its Desktop, Workgroup and Server configurations.
Retrospect 6.1.138 adds support for Mac OS X v10.5. That new version is required for full system restores and duplicates, according to EMC. If a previous version of Retrospect is used, the restored system will not be bootable.
EMC notes that backing up or duplication on Time Machine data is not supported. Retrospect Express now detects Time Machine data and will add an entry to the log. Backups and duplicates using previous versions of Retrospect Express would stop when Time Machine data was encountered.
