LINZ nears 100% business online

Release 2.10 is the second of several major updates coming up over the next 12 months, says LINZ

Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) will roll out the second major update of its Landonline system on October 8.

“Release 2.10 is the second of several major updates coming up over the next 12 months, primarily to deliver the functionality to enable 100% e-lodgement of title transactions,” says Katrina Jacobsen, manager customers. “These releases are also the main way LINZ will deliver system maintenance and enhancements.”

She says the key benefits for conveyancers within this release will be: certifying and signing of multiple instruments in a single e-dealing; pre-populating the forms from within Landonline; screen updates including a new ‘Help’ button, which will display on every screen, and ‘Preview Instrument’ buttons, which will display on every instrument screen.

“For surveyors, Release 2.10 primarily focuses on process improvements, in particular reducing manual processing and improving general performance,” Jacobsen says.

LINZ warns that all customers who have signing rights, including solicitors, surveyors and territorial authority staff, will need to upgrade their version of Digisign, Landonline’s signing software.

The new software (Digisign version 2) will not be available and cannot be installed until October 8 as it has to be made available with Release 2.10. From then, the current Digisign version will not be compatible with parts of Landonline and therefore will not be supported by LINZ.

Landonline says it is expected that all technology releases will have been implemented by October 1, 2008 when all title processing will be carried out electronically. Landonline is the first New Zealand e-government programme to be mandated by law.
