Hewlett-Packard has achieved supplier status for the All-of-Government printer contract, where it will sit alongside Canon, FujiXerox, KonicaMinolta and Ricoh in providing printing services to government departments and agencies.
An Internal Affairs spokesman told Computerworld there is no lead supplier on the panel, but “panelists might have specialist skills in certain areas”.
The contract was negotiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs on behalf of all government agencies, and is similar in nature to an All-Of-Government deal signed with five PC makers last year for the supply of PCs and laptops to government agencies.
A statement from HP announcing that it is on the panel notes: “HP offers a Printing Payback Guarantee for new, qualified HP PDMS customers.
“This means HP will present a return on investment to 201 of the country’s government agencies.
“HP estimates that a government agency will be able to reduce the cost of its fleet by up to 30 percent through an improved, balanced deployment of services, reduction in paper usage and improved management of their printing devices.”
