CA to expand Melbourne R&D centres

Graduate recruitment will be part of antivirus research programme

CA plans to boost its Melbourne-based research and development staff, with up to 50 new positions to be offered over the next five years.

The company has also announced plans to offer internships for ten Australian university students annually, with the aim of providing ongoing employment after graduation.

Marsha Thomson, Victorian Minister for ICT, says CA already employs around 150 Victorians in research and development in two sites in Melbourne, Mooroolbark and Richmond.

“Our competitive advantage in Victoria is our excellent skills base, and to have that recognised is clear testimony to that,” she says.

“Through its student programme with our local universities, CA has formed a solid foundation for growing the company’s Melbourne base.”

Eugene Dozortsev, CA’s eTrust Security Solutions vice president of research and development, says the company “believes Victoria offers a unique environment for high-end development centres, universities that produce world-class skills, a stable workforce that is loyal to the businesses it works for and a legal environment that protects the IP we are developing.”

The main focus of CA’s Melbourne R&D centres is antivirus technology.
