IBM rolls out four new products designed to help users begin building SOA

IBM has just rolled out four products under its WebSphere middleware stack. They are designed to help users more easily begin building a service-oriented architecture (SOA).

The new products should help companies overcome problems associated with launching SOA, and also avoid additional costs, according to a company statement.

WebSphere Portal 6.0 integrates IBM Workplace and collaborative technologies, making it easier for users to build composite applications that can be tailored by industry, role or task.

The latest version also provides a workflow builder with a process engine to simplify the integration of business processes.

WebSphere Business Monitor 6.0 includes business alerts, reports that combine real-time performance and historical analysis, and scorecards to track the status and metrics of projects.

The new version of IBM’s application server, WebSphere Application Server 6.1, has new features aimed at reducing the complexity of an SOA as it is expanded to include applications like voice, video and instant messaging communications. It also has new security features.

WebSphere Commerce 6.0 includes several new features that can provide companies with a consistent view of the customer across all sales channels, says IBM.
