India wants Google Earth Kashmir correction

It's part of India, not Pakistan, says Indian minister

India has objected to Google's depiction of a portion of Kashmir as a part of Pakistan on Google Earth, says Rao Inderjit Singh, India's minister of state for external affairs.

Singh said in the Lok Sabha, India's lower house of parliament, that a letter had already been sent to the chairman of the executive committee and the chief executive officer of Google asking them to correct the map. India lays claim to a part of Kashmir that is currently administered by Pakistan.

Google wasn't immediately available for comment.

Google Earth came in for criticism a month ago from India's President APJ Abdul Kalam, who said that the easy availability online of detailed maps of countries from services such as Google Earth can be misused by terrorists.
