Jade Corporation has collaborated with Microsoft in the release of its latest version, Jade 6.1.
It will provide a real-time relational population service (RPS) to SQL Server.
The linkage to SQL was driven by customer demand, notably UK-based customers Skipton Building Society and Homeloan Management, says Jade managing director Rod Carr.
“Jade 6.1 is the end result of an 18-month development cycle,” he says. “It’s a new high-performance platform for delivering complex solutions.”
It’s also a shift in emphasis for Jade, which has previously been positioned more as an end-to-end solution rather than a platform-specific one.
Carr says the company is not contemplating linkages with other databases at the moment, though this is seemingly contradicted by a press release that says support for other relational databases is expected to follow.
He says he thinks the Microsoft linkage will probably open up Jade to new sales. The company currently has 1900 sites, 45% of which are in New Zealand, 25% in the UK, 25% in Australia and 5% in the US.
Jade was built to run on Windows, so every Jade sale is a Windows server sale.
Microsoft New Zealand managing director Ross Peat says the company is talking to all its New Zealand developers. “Jade is one example,” he says.
