Optimation has strengthened position in the utilities market by purchasing Kinetiq’s New Zealand licence and associated software support business. The price hasn’t been disclosed.
Kinetiq provides billing services for utilities’ larger commercial and industrial customers based on “time of use” bills that record usage in half-hour segments. Kinetiq Customers include Contact Energy, WEL Networks and Bay of Plenty Electricity.
Kinetiq was recently acquired from Spectrum Resources by a US private investor, which now wants to concentrate on its services business in markets outside New Zealand.
Optimation has a similar billing product, Equip, and will offer Kinetiq customers a path to move to it.
“We will assume first-level support for existing Kinetiq customers in New Zealand.” Optimation utilities group director Alistair Owen says.
“We have backed this up with an on-going agreement with Kinetiq internationally to provide next-level support,” he says.
