Synergy sheds execs

Three general managers leave 'Barmy army' recruiter

Three Synergy executives are to leave the company after what chief executive Jim Donovan describes as a "revamp" of the executive team.

The three are marketing general manager Desiree Keown, who coordinated Synergy's recent "let's recruit from the Barmy Army" campaign, sales GM Greg Bickerton and global development GM Garth Hamilton.

Synergy has created three new regional manager positions, which will be filled by Ian Clarke in Wellington, Darren McTigue in London and Mark Kidd in Auckland, who will serve as acting regional GM until a permanent appointment is made.

Donovan told Computerworld "we talked about where we were going" and says some staff "didn't want to be part of it".

He says he wouldn't use the term "redundancy" to describe the circumstances of the three executives' departure. "We negotiated an amicable arrangement," he says.

Synergy recently announced it was negotiating with the Education Department to supply the department's new payroll system, having been appointed prime contractor to the project.

Earlier this year, the company announced it made an after-tax profit of $809,000 for the year to March 31 2005, double that of the previous financial year.

Revenue for the year to 2005 was $32.9 million, up from $32.6 million last year.
