LA baker finds Christchurch software a tasty treat

SSi has plans to grow more in the US

A Los Angeles-based food processing business that produces baked and other goods for the Hispanic market has chosen software from Christchurch company SSi to run its expanding business.

After evaluating several systems, Artimex chose SSi’s GlobalBake, an enterprise software package designed for running complex food processing operations.

Artimex general manager Mark Baca says GlobalBake is helping Artimex improve the efficiency of its operations by getting better information about the five-day-a-week, 24-hour-a-day operation.

“GlobalBake is really enabling us to better control our business,” he says.

Artimex primarily supplies California’s premier Mexican restaurant chain,

El Gallo Giro, but is also expanding into other retail markets outside the state.

The sale to Artimex is part of SSi’s growth plans in the US, says SSi sales and marketing manager Kerry Glynn.

“Industrial food processing in the US is a perfect market for a New Zealand software company like SSi, because it is a niche where we can deliver really specific value at a good price for clients,” Glynn says. Artimex joins other US GlobalBake clients in New York, Vermont, Virginia, Texas and Arizona. GlobalBake also has clients in Australia, Dubai and New Zealand.

The software development company, which was established in 1981, develops the Global family of products as well as customised software for companies around the world.
