Kordia inks deal with RoamAD

Kordia to distribute RoamAD's converged metro Wi-Fi solution in New Zealand

State-owned enterprise Kordia, formerly known as BCL, has signed a deal for distribution of RoamAD’s converged metro Wi-Fi solution in New Zealand.

“Metro Wi-Fi is becoming a strong global trend,” says Kordia’s CEO Geoff Hunt. “In the US alone, this technology has already opened up a US$3 billion market — with estimated year-on-year growth of around 100%."

He says that Kordia has a strong new focus on telecommunications and converged solutions.

“This partnership with RoamAD means we are now delivering on the promise offered by convergence and the convenience of personal broadband,” he says.

Before Christmas, Kordia won the contract to build a wireless access solution — using RoamAD technology — for the Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) in Hawke’s Bay.

Hunt says that Kordia will develop more applications and is willing to work with other content and service providers in this area. “This deal with RoamAD and EIT Hawke’s Bay is our first step towards increasing ease of use and the utility of Wi-Fi networks throughout New Zealand,” he says.
