NZ Sun chief to move to Oracle

Permanent replacement for Gosling found

Sun Microsystems New Zealand country manager Peter Idoine has resigned to take up the position of managing director of Oracle New Zealand. He leaves Sun at the end of January and will start in his new role in mid-March.

Idoine says it is a bigger role with more challenge. “I wasn’t looking but was approached by Oracle.”

In June, then-managing director Robert Gosling moved to Australia as vice president of technology sales. After taking up that position, Gosling continued in the local country manager role in a temporary capacity until a permanenet replacement was found.

Idoine says it was good to have been involved in the turnaround of Sun in New Zealand. “Our revenue was up 10% in the past fiscal year and we’ve done really well leading up to Christmas.”

His role at Sun was largely a sales one, reporting to Australia.
