Gen-i CEO Garth Biggs has been appointed to head up Telecom’s solutions team in Australia.
Telecom won’t confirm the appointment, indicating that an announcement on Biggs’ future role will be made public later, but sources say a bare-bones statement was on the company intranet last week.
Biggs’ formal title in the new role is not known but it seems he will manage Telecom Advanced Solutions in Australia. Telecom hopes Gen-i and TAS will do $200 million in business in Australia over the next year.
When Telecom bought Gen-i earlier this year, it said Biggs would stay with the company till December 31, though CIO Mark Ratcliffe said at the time that he hoped a future role within Telecom would be found for Biggs.
Biggs was not available for comment.
Ratcliffe himself is the subject of rumour among TAS and Xtra staff. It’s thought that he will soon relinquish the role of CIO to move to a more business-focused position. However, Telecom denies this is planned.
