Dell has rolled out a storage-area network (SAN) appliance this week that lets users move data between remote and local locations on enterprise networks.

Dubbed the PowerVault 530F SAN, the appliance lets data be replicated from site to site, providing increased fault tolerance and availability.

The appliance uses software from StorageApps that allows point-in-time copy capabilities in which a snapshot of the data is taken and copied to another disk for backup. The PowerVault 530F SAN is available now from the US starting at less than US$50,000.
