Australian paint manufacturer Wattyl has signed a telecommunications service agreement which will see its New Zealand subsidiary switch from Telecom to TelstraClear.

Auckland-based systems manager Nigel Sayers says the deal, which was struck in Sydney, will result in cost savings for the New Zealand company. Longer term, it will enable streamlining of some services, he says.

The company is in the process of switching over to its new supplier for replacement voice and data services. The latter have been delivered via analogue land lines, Sayers says.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the two-year deal involving Telstra and TelstraClear is costing Wattyl $A3 million.
