Watch this space on pricing says Xtra

Xtra won't be matching ICONZ's broadband pricing structure in south Auckland but will keep a watching brief on the area, says Xtra spokesperson Anna Kermode.

Xtra won't be matching ICONZ's broadband pricing structure in south Auckland but will keep a watching brief on the area, says Xtra spokesperson Anna Kermode.

"It's a case of watch this space really," Kermode says.

ICONZ is about to launch two broadband offerings using Wired Country's newly installed fibre network (see No limits for south Auckland broadband). The 256Kbit/s service costs $99 per month while the 512Kbit/s service is $120. Both services have unlimited traffic capacity and ICONZ is considering launching a faster capped service as well at a later date.

By contrast, Xtra offers JetStream Starter, with a 128Kbit/s speed and a 5GB cap for international traffic costs $65 a month and full-speed JetStream (with no speed guarantee) costs $89 a month with a 1GB cap.

Telecom has promised to review the pricing structure for all JetStream products later this year, although no firm date or details on the new structure have yet been released.

The ICONZ service is only available in the Pukekohe CBD and some surrounding suburbs, but this will be expanded to include an area from Pukekohe north to Papakura.
