Telecom signs deal with Hong Kong telco

Telecom New Zealand International has signed a strategic deal with Advantage Telecommunications to provide wholesale bandwidth to each other.

Telecom New Zealand International, the offshore arm of Telecom New Zealand, has signed a strategic deal with Hong Kong-based Advantage Telecommunications (AdvanTel) to provide wholesale bandwidth to each other.

AdvanTel gains access to the US market via TNZI’s Los Angeles base and Telecom would gain greater access to the Asian market.

AdvanTel is part of a consortium of Asian telcos laying the $US1 billion APCN-2 submarine cable across the Asian region and has plans to lay trans-Pacific cabling connecting China and Japan with the US.
