Dear What Am I Worth,

I am finishing my Bachelor of Engineering in engineering science in two months' time, and am looking to move into a development role.

I have experience (course work) in VB, C, FORTRAN90 and Matlab.

I have been working as a help-desk operator with a large systems development/integration company for the past two years - front-line support for NT, office and networking, plus exposure to Pracle, Unix, Web apps etc.

I also spent three months working as a LAN/NT support engineer for the same company. Here I supported NT servers, MS-Mail, MS-exchange. PC builds, hardware upgrades, and carried out Y2K auditing.

Intellimark replies: The market salary for entry-level graduates is between $30,000 and $35,000. Once you have gained some commercial experience in a development role, you could look at yearly increases on your entry-level salary. For a developer with a number of years experience, you could expect a salary of $50,000 and above.
